POH 600 - Population Health Credits: 3
Provides the opportunity to experience the practice of medicine in a rural medically underserved community. This 3-week rotation occurs at the conclusion of Year I, after completion of MED PHMR 600 and PHMR 601 . Students prioritize community-centered population health needs using valid research and epidemiological methods and data resources. They become immersed in the professional and community responsibilities of a physician working within a rural medically underserved area, and they identify linkages between families and their patients’ overall health and well-being. They develop the initial structure for a population health initiative that will be completed in Year IV of their medical education. Note: Offered by the School of Medicine.
